Summer 2014 Public Relations Internship

Allyson Conklin Public Relations (www.allysonconklinpr.com), a boutique public relations agency specializing in beauty, home and lifestyle brands is seeking two summer interns. All applicants must be currently enrolled in a four-year college program at the junior level or higher, be a self-starter, passionate about pop culture and interested in working in the communications field after graduation.

Interns are required to work 15 hours per week from May 19th to August 15th. This internship is unpaid or for credit.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Support ACPR staff with day-to-day administrative requests
• Compile and submit daily news round ups
• Compile and submit daily editor updates
• Management of internal contact lists
• Manage and organize monthly print magazine subscriptions
o Flag competitor stories
o Flag story ideas for clients
o Stay up to date on what’s media worthy
• Writing assignments
o Messages for social media channels
o Press releases
o Media alerts
o Letters and invitations
• Management of client product mailings
• Social media maintenance
o ACPR pages
o Client pages (as assigned)

Basic job requirements:
• Have a passion for beauty, home and lifestyle brands
• Have excellent communication skills: verbal and written
• Have a strong understanding of the AP writing style
• Be a self starter and have the initiative to start and maintain projects
• Be able to multi-task
• Be highly organized
• Be a pop culture junkie! Know what’s hot in the press and to consumers.
