Altitude Sports & Entertainment Internship Program Information

Welcome to Altitude Sports & Entertainment. We are the regional broadcast network home of the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Rapids, collegiate games, high-school events, as well as entertainment and community programming. We strive to provide internships that are rewarding both academically and professionally.
Our internships are offered in a variety of areas throughout our organization, including Production, Operations, Advertising Sales, Affiliate Sales and Broadcast Services. Depending on the nature of the position, the internships vary in length and time of year.
All of our internships are paid. However, you can still receive academic credit for the experience as well.

SUMMER 2011 ALTITUDE SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
BROADCAST & VIDEO SERVICES (Pepsi Center & Dick’s Sporting Goods Park)
The Broadcast Services internship is a behind the scenes look at the broadcast world for sports franchises. We work closely with the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Colorado Mammoth (NLL) teams play out of Pepsi Center and the Colorado Rapids (MLS) play out of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. We work under Altitude Sports & Entertainment but our primary job is to provide video content for the teams of Kroenke Sports Enterprises.
Internship Objective: Provide intern with hands-on broadcast and video production experience, expose the student to how a video production department works on a day to day basis, and leave the internship with an in-depth understanding of how live sports television and arena game entertainment production industry works.

• Studio & Location Video Production.
o Challenges and teaches student the various aspects, duties and requirements of video production through participation. Students learn about stage or location set up, lighting and audio.
o Students may assist with set up, operate a camera, run video tape machine, operate a teleprompter or simply observe.
o Students also learn proper professional etiquette to work with supervisory production personnel, on-camera talent and possibly some famous sports figures.
• Post Production and Graphics
o Teaches the students about video editing and graphics.
o Students receive fully supervised hands on training on Avid or Final Cut Pro logging systems & various format tape decks.
o Students may also observe edit sessions and animation production of videos and commercials for broadcast in arena or on television.
• Arena Sports Game Entertainment Production
o Offers students the opportunity to observe the control or tape room and shadow the various positions required for arena sports entertainment.
o Students can see the finished productions as they air live in-arena.
• Misc assistance to Broadcast Engineers & Production Supervisor.
o Students are able to see projects from start to finish and learn how each individual contributes. They observe and work closely with the production team to help get the graphics & videos broadcast on-air and in the arena.

Broadcast Intern Qualifications:
• Paid, able to receive school credit
• Available 20-25 hours/week
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
• Basic experience working with production equipment preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Prefer Broadcast, Technical and/or Journalism major
PRODUCTION (Altitude Network Operations Center, Centennial)
• Help on game nights with logging & cutting game highlights for use in Avalanche, Nuggets, Mammoth and Rapids programming
• Act as production assistant on shoots at various locations at the Pepsi Center, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and around Denver
• Roughly 15-20 hours a week, including nights and weekends, some hours at Pepsi Center and/or Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, many at the Network Operations Center
• Training on various broadcast level equipment in technical center and in the field
• General duties as assigned
Production Intern qualifications:
• Paid, able to receive school credit
• Must be available 20-25 hours/week, including nights and weekends
• Excellent communication skills
• Prefer Television Production, Broadcast, Technical Communications, or similar major
• Interest in sports television and knowledge of local sports teams is necessary
• Strong interest assisting Videographers and Producers with production of Altitude weekly and game shows
