Student Media Specialist Intern

Job Description-
Supports communication efforts of the Office of the Vice President for Research at Colorado State University through social media, creation of promotional videos, marketing, public relations and writing. This is a part time position and is expected to be a 10-15 hour per week commitment. Hourly rate commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Duties/Responsibilities-
• Update and maintain OVPR’s social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn
• Conduct video interviews and edit to create short promotional clips for social media platforms
• Assist in planning, writing and copy editing the VPR’s monthly newsletter
• Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories to campus media
• Design flyers, graphics, presentations, e-vites and other marketing material.
• Update the VPR website when needed
• Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message about the OVPR’s mission
• Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications

Skills/Qualifications-
• Current CSU student, available Fall 2014
• Preferred work commitment of two semesters or more (one-semester internships will be considered)
• Willingness and ability to work with a team
• Strong work ethic and commitment to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in social media marketing
• Copy editing ability
• Creativity
• Web design and/or website content management experience a plus
• Graphic design experience a plus
• Video editing experience a plus
• Interns are eligible to receive course credit and monetary compensation
