Social and Digital Media Intern

Colorado State University is recognized as one of the premier research institutions and routinely ranks in the top of all American Universities in research expenditures. The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) has overall responsibility for facilitating the research enterprise at Colorado State University. The Office works to encourage and support the development, marketing and application of Colorado State University’s intellectual property and our world-renowned researchers, students and facilities.

The OVPR Social and Digital Media intern will gain an overarching understanding of the Division’s initiatives by telling the University’s branded stories through a variety of social and digital communications channels.

Intern can expect to:
• Attend weekly communication team meetings
• Serve on the University-wide social media committee and attend monthly meetings
• Create daily creation of social and digital media content, including (but not limited to):
oCreating photos, graphics, short videos to be shared on CSU social media
• Attend events to create content for various channels
• Monitor incoming messages to CSU’s Facebook page
• Help execute social media contests and distribute prizes to winning participants
• Ensure that the University image and brand is communicated consistently and appropriately on social and digital channels.
• Conduct a semester-long social media project
• Research social media outlets as possible venues to disseminate CSU news and information
• Be up-to-date with the latest trends and strategies in social media

• A successful applicant will be a current CSU student, enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and will demonstrate the following characteristics:
• Strong knowledge of various social media platforms
• Graphic design experience and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Writing and editing experience
• Passion for the Colorado State community and a willingness to foster the growth of that community through use of social media platforms
• Willingness to perform as part of a team while possessing a strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy, collaboration and high quality results
• Dedication to professional standards while maintaining a creative spirit and a sense of fun
• Ability to work with minimal direction and produce quality results in an efficient manner

• Experience creating content for branded social media accounts is preferred
• Photography and videography experience is preferred
This internship is for the spring 2017 semester with the possibility of extending to the fall 2017 semester.

Hours: 12 hours each week; flexible schedule; work from the VPR communication team office in the Administration Building on campus. Intern will occasionally be asked to work events hosted during evenings and weekends.

Pay: $10/hour (also available for journalism and media communication internship credit).
