Science Communications and Outreach Intern

A multi-institutional, multi-state research project is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled student intern to support science communications and outreach. The Bioenergy Alliance Network of the Rockies is led by researchers at Colorado State University and is exploring the use of beetle-killed trees and other forest biomass for sustainable bioenergy production. Audiences targeted will be diverse and may include mountain community members, timber and energy industry professionals, environmental organizations, policy makers, government officials, other scientists, and students.

The student intern will assist with a number of outreach and communication tasks including but not limited to:
- producing newsletters and brochures
- updating website content
- maintaining social media presence
- assisting with presentations and posters
- possibly assisting with video production

Skills and Qualifications:
- Acute attention to detail, ability to follow instructions and willingness to work collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Experience editing website content within a CMS (content management system)
- Ability to write and review content
- Social media savvy
- Creativity
- Design experience a plus

In addition to the above skills and qualifications, the ideal candidate will have an interest and some classroom experience in the sciences, preferably in natural resources, and enthusiasm for issues affecting the Rocky Mountain West. This position has long-term potential, so we would prefer students available for both the fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters.
