Publicity & Social Media Intern

Position Summary
The Publicity & Social Media Intern will gain hands-on experience creating professional marketing pieces for University Center for the Arts (UCA) events. This individual will work with the UCA Publicity & Marketing team to publicize events through various media, such as the Web, print, social media, and additional outlets. This position allows students to expand their professional portfolio while working in a vibrant, creative atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Publicity & Marketing Specialist in development of event marketing and communications plans.
• Write press releases and special interest stories (performance reviews, student profiles, etc.) for a variety of distributions, including The Green Room online magazine.
• Assist with fulfillment of publicity calendar for UCA events.
• Manage the department’s presence in various social media environments, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.
• Attend performances and rehearsals for live performance reporting.
• Write social media feature content, including interviews with faculty and students.
• Proofread and edit projects.
• Assist with on-campus marketing efforts and events.
• Uphold college and university branding and communications guidelines.
• Additional communications, marketing, and event-related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
• Current CSU student, available Spring 2016
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Copy editing ability
• Proficiency in social media and social media marketing
• Experience with video editing and/or broadcast journalism preferred
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
• Ability to excel in a collaborate, team-oriented environment and work independently
• Flexibility to work during regular office hours and evening events as needed
• Strong work ethic and commitment to detail
• Interns are eligible to receive course credit
