Public Relations Intern

Hollywood has arrived in Fort Collins! Gary Montana, a 30-year Hollywood stuntman who’s appeared in 700+ films (Fast and Furious, Pirates of the Caribbean, Braveheart, etc.), has opened Motion Picture Stunts & Tactical Studio. The Studio, which targets local and Hollywood actors, and Weekend Warriors, is opening in late-February.

Intern Responsibilities:

1. Work with Laura Dowling, 1997 PRSSA National Adviser of the Year and Studio co-owner, on all PR and marketing for the company. Dowling also owns Dowling PR in Fort Collins. www.dowlingpr.com

2. Hours: 15-20/week. The more…the better.

3. Press release writing + media relations + story placement.

4. Extensive research on target audiences.

5. Assistance with database creation.

6. Assistance with design and development of marketing materials (e.g.: flyers, signage, etc.).

7. Assistance with social media coordination.

8. General office support as we launch a start-up business.

9. IDEAL INTERN: 2nd-semester Junior or a Senior with prior PR internships that involved heavy writing. Must have extremely good press-release writing skills. Knowledge of AP Style (it’s on your bedside stand). Self starter who is confident and takes initiative (we all think we have these traits, but I want you to REALLY examine yourself). If you’re a senior, you won’t have a serious case of ‘Senior-itis” this semester.

COMPUTER SKILLS: PhotoShop, MS Word, Excel, Google Docs.

WRITING TEST: Applicants will be required to complete a writing test.

While the internship is unpaid, you can receive thousands of dollars worth of stunt training, which is challenging, fun, an adrenaline rush and more. I’m 51 and am hooked, even though I have no aspirations to be a Hollywood stuntwoman.
