PR/Journalism Intern

Red Hen Systems (www.redhensystems.com) is looking for an intern (Junior, Senior, or grad student) to work from 15 to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is flexible in order to accommodate class and test schedule and wage is commensurate with work experience, classes taken and GPA.

Wage is $15-$20/hr.

Requirements
• Ability to grasp technical aspects of Red Hen’s products and write/talk about them for media and customers.
• Excellent writing and grammar skills
• 2 writing samples with one about a technical subject or product (related class assignment is okay)
• Outgoing, go-getter personality, willing to cold call editors and others and place stories, product releases, etc.
• Performed well in a combination of public relations, marketing, journalism, advertising or writing classes. Prior experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of AP style

Knowledge of and experience with media/communication/marketing planning and campaigns is a plus as are examples of published work in print or Internet.

Job Responsibilities
• Write news releases, product descriptions, news stories and place them in targeted media. These will go through an internal editing and approval process prior to release. Other writing and publicity assignments as assigned.
• Assist with marketing and sales activities.
• Build up data base of media contacts.
• Manage media contacts. Develop rapport with key editors.
• Other duties as assigned.
