About Our Job
The Mayor’s Office of the National Western Center (NWCO) is focused on the transformation of the National Western Complex and Denver Coliseum into an estimated 250-acre year-round destination for entertainment, experiential learning and research, and agribusiness. Our mission is to convene the world at the National Western Center to lead, inspire, create, educate, and entertain in pursuit of global food solutions. Visit: to learn more about the project.

NWCO is currently seeking an intern for communications. Communications is charged with developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies including messaging, media relations, branding, and marketing collateral among others. Examples of projects this year include:

  • Branding
  • Website launch
  • Social Media launch
  • Community Engagement for projects such as campus placemaking, Brighton Blvd., transportation, among other.
  • Virtual historic tour

The summer intern will be responsible for:

  • Content creation for website
  • Assisting with Social Media and texting campaigns
  • Drafting newsletter articles and other communication pieces
  • Coordinating and staffing events with internal and external stakeholders
  • Creating marketing materials such as flyers
  • Creating presentations for staff
  • Distributing marketing materials in neighborhoods
  • Tracking media coverage
  • Maintaining various media lists for pitching
  • Participating in communications committees for NWCO in conjunction with staff


About You
In order to apply, you must be a current college student who has completed two years of coursework leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Business or closely related field.

Our ideal candidate will be/have:

  • Passion for effective communication and understanding of various tools to deliver messages
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented with solid written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Dependable and flexible
  • Works well under pressure
  • Able to create basic marketing materials like flyers
  • Good phone etiquette
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)

Compensation Range: $15.88
Agency: Office of Economic Development
