College Media and Communications Internship – Fall 2016
Term:
This internship is expected to start in September 2016 and continue through November 2016. Interns must be eligible to receive college credit, or be satisfying an academic requirement, in order to be considered. This is a full-time internship at 30 hours per week.
Overview: 
The primary focus of this internship is to support and assist in the production of content for D1ARugby.com as well as USARugby.org. The hired intern will write and publish multiple articles a week, as well as promote their published works on our social media outlets.
College department responsibilities include:
• Keep a careful watch over the happenings of college rugby – especially the top teams in men’s Division 1A Rugby
• Create or edit content from universities to promote the institutional and athletic aims of their college rugby teams
• Report on players, preview matches and recap games with an entertaining flare.
• Call and interview coaches and players on the phone to gain insights into the teams’ programs and resent results. Pull quotes from these interviews to build insightful and entertaining stories.
• Write feature stories about what players, teams and coaches are doing away from the pitch and in their community/campus.
• Created social media posts to build USA Rugby’s brand and promote the stories you write.
• Administrative duties as needed by the College Department.
Potential interns for this position should possess a passion for sports media and journalism. A background in rugby is a plus, but not a necessity.
