Marketing & Communication Intern

Downtown Business Association Interns are passionate, creative and analytical. As a representative of the DBA, on-the-job requirements will fine-tune interns’ skill sets and provide experience to adequately prepare them for entry into a fast-paced office environment, bringing with them demonstrated abilities and applied experience at a high-profile organization. This position demands excellent communication skills, creativity, and an uncompromising attention to detail. This position will also offer opportunities to develop relationships and networks within the Fort Collins community. This internship is a seasonal, part-time role that requires a minimum of 400 hours of service (80% in office, 20% field work) that includes both in-office contributions and on-site commitments at DBA produced events and promotions (Concert, Festivals, Downtown Functions, etc.)

Expectations & Areas of Responsibility:
•Attend weekly marketing meetings to learn about current and future important topics of discussion
•Provide front office support, in include screening of phone calls, customer service with visitors to DBA office and support of the gift cards system
•Participation in community relations, including public outreach meetings, forums, etc.
•Implement strategic communication strategy aimed at building mutually beneficial relationships across the organization
•Assist the Development Manager with sponsor, member business and community outreach and communication
•Assist Development Manager with collection of event-related sponsorship data through photos, impression reports and attendance counts
•Gather and edit content for monthly newsletters, email blasts and more
•Provide Social Media support through photos, posting, tracking analytics and being responsive on social media outlets
•Collect social media analytics and create monthly reports
•Distribute event and promotions collateral to member businesses and the public-at-large
•Update website listings, information and photos when necessary
•Work with graphic designer to create engaging and attractive marketing materials
•Support Special Projects Manager and Event Staff with marketing, signage and event preparation needs
•Work with event staff to create marketing plans and signage for events and promotions
•Assist with management of physical DBA assets, storage unit inventories and event-related equipment and supplies
•Provide assistance and support of all DBA Events and Promotions
•Provide clerical production support for DBA events, including entertainment booking, marketing promotions, and pilot project initiatives such as the Give Real Change campaign, Ambassador Program and more
•Update and manage event-related databases, execute mailing, keep detailed records, filings, etc.
•Provide other direct support to Event Staff as needed

•Enrollment in a college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field
•Knowledge of marketing strategies and sales principles
•Understanding social media tools and functions
•Superior writing, grammar and editing skills, as well as strong oral communications skills
•Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
•Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, PowerPoint and other basis computer programs
•Strong attention to detail and ability to take initiative
•Physical demands: ability to stand for long hours on event days, ability to lift 50lbs.

Internship Specifics
•Must be available February 2017 – May 2017 (moderate flexibility)
•Hours per week negotiable
•Can be used for course credit
•Must provide own transportation
