Magazine Publisher Penton Media Looking for 2 Editorial Interns

Penton Media, the largest independent B2B magazine publishing company, is looking for two editorial interns to assist with a variety of functions at our Loveland office. Interns will have the opportunity to experience the print magazine production process from start to finish; learn valuable skills such as writing and editing for print, email, and websites, including coding HTML; see how journalists are leveraging social networking to succeed today; and work with senior editors with 10+ years experience to cultivate their own talents and prepare for a career in journalism.

While this position is unpaid, students will be eligible for college credit through CSU and will learn timeless skills to prepare them for a future in the industry.

This internship will be held during the Spring 2010 semester. Candidates are expected to work 15-20 hours per week–schedules are flexible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties will be tailored to interns’ skill sets and interest, and may include any of the following:

- Writing blog content on,,, and
- Editing technical articles and columns
- Assisting with email newsletter production and distribution
- Formatting articles for the web using HTML and WYSIWYG tools
- Assisting in final production of magazine, proofing, etc.
- Other duties as needed.
Recommended Skills:
Valuable skills to help candidates succeed in this position include:

- Writing, editing, and communication skills
- Knowledge of Chicago Manual Style
- HTML and basic web design experience
- Attention to detail
- The ability to multi-task and work independently on time-sensitive projects
- An eagerness to learn new skills and research the subject matter
