High school sports reporting internship (CHSAA)

Posted on October 29th, 2015

Our interns will gain real world experience on a weekly basis and receive feedback on each assignment.

For photographers, reporters and videographers, duties will include features, game coverage, press conferences and various other events as they pop up. The majority of in-the-field assignments will be at games.

Web design & development interns will aid in coding for the site. They will be given a specific project to focus on, but will also be given the opportunity to help in other areas of the site.

Online producers will help in the day-to-day operations of the site, including posting of stories and photos. Social media will also play a big role in this position.

Specific hours will vary, though a typical intern will work two-to-three days per week during the course of their internship.

In most cases, the intern’s work will be published on CHSAANow.com.

Additionally, we will ask our interns about areas they would like to explore. This includes HTML/CSS, videos, podcasts, or even things like marketing and the business side of journalism. If desired, they will be given opportunities to pursue these interests.

At the conclusion of the internship, each intern and their advisor will have a open discussion during which we go over how things went, where they grew and what they can work on. It will serve as an overall review of their work.
