The Covidien Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions Global Business Unit (GBU) is looking for a full-time communications intern to support internal, external and marketing communications. The intern will work in the R&MS office in Boulder, Colo. The student will get real-world experience on an integrated communications team, apply writing and researching skills in a business environment, learn about the strategies and tools employed in the communications functions at medical device company. The intern will work with the Communications team members on projects that increase employee engagement and awareness of company initiatives, strategy, product launches and technology innovations. This experience will include working independently in researching, writing and editing communication materials.

The Communications intern will:

  • Write internal and external communications including intranet stories, newsletter articles, organizational announcements, news releases, presentations
  • Monitor media coverage and industry news for issues related to the R&MS business
  • Assist with organizing and publicizing employee events and philanthropy initiatives
  • Participate in miscellaneous communications projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Assist with formatting and posting on the company intranet site and in creating and managing other sub-sites employees
  • Work with electronic file formats such as jpeg, eps, tif, pdf files, etc., and re-size and crop photographs.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders to collaborate on internal communication and marketing communication efforts.
  • Enrollment in a Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree program in journalism, communications, business communications
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently in an environment that is fast-paced, and able to promptly turn around assignments
  • Web communications skills/experience
  • Experience or knowledge of social media
  • Willing and able to learn new communications technologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
