Graphic Design & Communications Internship

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Are you a CSU student who is studying communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design, or a related field? We want you!

 

Work on a variety of communications and marketing projects including collateral, website, blog, social media, presentations, and educational trainings. Tasks will include project management, marketing, writing, graphic design, and video editing.

  • Pay is $11-13 per hour, based on experience.
  • Position requires 5-10 hours per week with potential for additional hours.
  • Hours are flexible during normal business hours.
  • Minimum 18-month commitment required, starting ASAP.

 

Key Functions

  • Report Design & Marketing Collateral
    • Design and/or review PowerPoint presentations
    • Support the design and layout of client reports
    • Design IBE’s annual Year in Review
    • Design internal marketing collateral
  • Website Design & Management
    • Support content transition to new web platform
    • Keep content and images up to date
  • Video & Audio Editing
    • Produce and edit videos and audio for online trainings
  • Newsletter and Blog
    • Manage content for IBE’s quarterly newsletter: With staff support, identify content; oversee content development by interns and staff; write and edit content; manage graphics; manage layout in pre-designed template; ensure content aligns with IBE’s priorities; distribute newsletter using CSU Advance
    • Manage IBE’s newsletter distribution list: Collaborate with staff and CSU’s Advance team to ensure new contacts are added in a timely manner
    • Champion IBE’s blog: Refine and execute a new blog strategy to position IBE as a thought leader and convener in the built environment community
    • Manage day-to-day oversight of IBE’s blog: Develop and execute monthly blog schedule; support interns in developing content; write and edit content; publish content; identify opportunities
  • Social Media
    • Develop and execute a social media strategy to maximize IBE’s reach
    • Maintain presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other appropriate platforms
    • Develop and execute weekly social media schedule, engaging interns and staff as appropriate
    • Follow key industry trends

 

 

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ambition and strong ability to take initiative
  • Exceptional enthusiasm and commitment to learning
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud products (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design)
  • Related coursework in graphic design
  • Strong interest in IBE’s mission
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
  • Ability to commit at least 18 months and work at least 5 hours per week

 

Desired Skills

  • Experience with social media and WordPress
  • Experience in basic HTML, CSS, etc.
  • Related coursework in marketing, communications, web development, and writing
