Jackson Hole Weekly is currently accepting applications for its editorial internship program. Interns at JH Weekly develop strong reporting and writing skills working as full-time reporters under the supervision and tutelage of a small but talented and dedicated editorial team.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for self-motivated people with ambitions to become working journalists or writers. We want you to have strong research, fact-checking, critical thinking and writing skills, but prior journalistic experience is not required. Some familiarity with the issues of the West and mountain towns, e.g. tourism, natural resources, environment, etc., is helpful, as is some experience writing A&E criticism. Organizational skills, attention to detail, a sense of humor, and humility are required.

What we offer
The JH Weekly, Wyoming’s only alt-weekly newspaper, offers an opportunity to develop strong reporting skills and to write numerous articles in a stunning mountain setting with room to play and explore to your heart’s content. You will write news, A&E, music, opinion, and, if you’re up to snuff, compose a feature article(s). You’ll help with layout and proofing. A thick and constructively critical editorial sieve is intended to help interns leave the paper writing better and faster. Interns play an active role in putting the paper together and advance at their own pace. You’ll work on a flexible schedule (b/n 15-30 hours a week), with the exception of established schedules on Mondays and Tuesdays and weekly editorial meetings. That should give you plenty of time to enjoy all Jackson Hole has to offer. We’re working out the details of compensation/stipend/etc.

We are currently accepting applications for summer (mid-May through Mid-August) and fall (mid-September through mid-December) internships. The dates are fungible. Deadlines for submission: Summer, postmarked April 2; Fall, July 30.
