JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: EDITORIAL INTERN, NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR FINANCIAL EDUCATION

The editorial intern will assist the Marketing and Communications department in creating and sharing meaningful content about financial literacy and capability with various audiences through our consumer websites and corporate communications. This position will be responsible for writing and editing content, prepping articles for publication, tracking content shared across NEFE’s programs, updating our contacts database, and assisting with the gathering and cataloguing of graphics, collateral, and other NEFE assets. This position is a summer internship with the opportunity to continue year-round if it is a good fit.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write content for NEFE programs, including OnYourOwn.org, SmartAboutMoney.org, NEFE Digest (our corporate newsletter), and other programs as needed.
• Track all content generated by programs at NEFE.
• Write monthly roundup to keep NEFE staff informed of all new content postings.
• Enter and maintain contact information and relevant notes on new vendors, including writers, graphic designers, printers, photographers, etc.
• Update existing vendor records with 2014 projects.
• Provide review, fact checking, and editing of new content as assigned.
• Maintain web optimization spreadsheet for new content to be posted online.
• Attend NEFE editorial planning meetings and update editorial calendar.
• Create and maintain cataloging system for purchased graphics, NEFE collateral, and other NEFE assets as needed.
• Research and read trends in personal finance.
• Work with NEFE Twitter manager to:
o audit followers on NEFE’s social media accounts.
o write tweets.

Part-time, 20-25 hours per week. Flexible schedule available to accommodate a student.
Wage: $12 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a content writer or journalist with strong written skills and an understanding of Associated Press style. Junior, senior, or graduate student in Communications, English, or Journalism preferred. Knowledge of financial literacy issues in the U.S. a plus, but not required. Strong time management skills and experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Word and Excel.
