Digital Media Intern

Are you seeking a career in digital publishing and want to grow your copyediting, content creation, and critical thinking skillset? If so, this is the role for you! BWW Media Group, a privately held media company, is looking for a digital media intern to join our small, passionate start-up team that delivers content, conferences, and community resources to help IT professionals and tech enthusiasts get the most out of their technology investments.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent copyediting and writing skills, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to take on projects and implement them with minimal supervision. The intern must be able to telecommute from a reliable and secure computer and meet with the team in Fort Collins once a week.

The BWW Media Group team provides real-world content management and business training. The digital media intern will learn a wide range of content management skills, including but not limited to copyediting, newsletter creation, content creation, and content analysis, through their work on projects supporting Petri.com, Thurrott.com, ITUnity.com, and the UnityConnect conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Copyedit technical and news articles posted on Petri.com under the supervision of the Editorial Director
  • Build, edit, and launch the daily and weekly Petri.com, ITUnity.com, and Thurrott.com email newsletters
  • Collaborate with the marketing intern to promote content on social media accounts
  • Create engaging website and social media content as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • Journalism, English, or Communications Major
  • Excellent copyediting and content creation skills
  • Possesses the ability to lead initiatives and collaborate with remote team members
  • Able to work independently with limited daily supervision
  • Must be able to prioritize time-sensitive tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience using WordPress preferred; must have previous experience using a CMS
  • Must have a reliable and secure computer on which to perform the daily job duties
  • Available to meet in person with team members one day per week in Fort Collins

Internship Terms

  • Begins immediately
  • 15-20 hours per week, must be available to fulfill some of those hours in the morning each weekday
  • $10 per hour
  • Internship duration TBD, but a six-month to one-year minimum is preferred
