Job Description

The design intern will be responsible for working with the communications team on various design projects for the Alumni Association and/or campus programs. Some projects may include: offset and quick print design projects, Alumni Association website, AlumLine (e-newsletter), Around the Oval (print magazine). The design intern will gain valuable real-world experience in print and e-media as well as providing the Alumni Association with additional support.


• Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
(InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
• 10-12 office hours/week commitment – (credited, unpaid).

The intern will

• Design for print, web and e-communications.
• Aid the communications team with projects.
• Work in tandem on some design projects with the Asst. Dir. of Comm.
who functions as an in-house graphic designer.
• Participate in working with client discussions/creative briefs.
• Aid with photography for publications.
• Have own computer/workstation with the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
• Attend team and staff meetings and contribute ideas.

Objectives and Activities

• Gaining valuable knowledge in publication design and experience with setting
up files for offset printing.
• Working in a production/marketing environment and gaining a perspective on
working in an office setting.
• Building a portfolio of print and e-media pieces.
