Communications/Social Media Intern

Position Overview:
The Communication Interns will work in direct support of the Assistant Director for Communications in the CSU Events & Constituent Engagement Office. Interns will advance the messaging and branding of the CSU Events team through social media, the Web, print & electronic marketing pieces, and additional outlets.

Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Assistant Director for Communications in development of event marketing and communications plans.
• Manage the department’s presence in various social media environments in support of events.
• Ensure departmental adherence to University guidelines and develop best practices for office’s social media efforts.
• Draft content for the CSU Events & Constituent Engagement website.
• Assist in development and dissemination of event invitations.
• Serve as liaison to University’s External Relations department.
• Ensure departmental adherence to University branding and communications guidelines.
• Aid in implementation of post-experience surveys for department events and programs.
• Research best practices regarding event communications.
• Additional event- and communications-related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Current CSU student, available Spring 2012
• Willingness and ability to work with a team
• Strong work ethic and commitment to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in social media marketing
• Copy editing ability
• Creativity
• Sense of humor
• Preferred work commitment of two semesters or more (one-semester internships will be considered)
• Web design and/or website content management experience a plus
• Graphic design experience a plus
