Job Title: Communications & Social Media Intern
Hours Per Week: Minimum of 10
Department: Office of CSU Events

Position Overview:
The Communication Interns will work in direct support of the Assistant Director for Communications and the Guest Services Assistant in the Office of CSU Events. Interns will advance the messaging and branding of the CSU Events team through social media, the Web, print and electronic marketing pieces, and additional outlets.

• Work closely with the Assistant Director for Communications in development of event marketing and communications plans.
• Manage the department’s presence in various social media environments in support of events.
• Ensure departmental adherence to University guidelines and develop best practices for office’s social media efforts.
• Draft content for the CSU Events & Constituent Engagement website.
• Assist in development and dissemination of event invitations.
• Serve as liaison to University’s External Relations department.
• Write stories for Today@CSU and additional campus media outlets.
• Ensure departmental adherence to University branding and communications guidelines.
• Research best practices regarding event communications and marketing.
• Additional event- and communications-related duties, as assigned.

• Current CSU student, available Summer or Fall 2012
• Willingness and ability to work with a team
• Strong work ethic and commitment to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in social media marketing
• Copy editing ability
• Creativity
• Sense of humor
• Preferred work commitment of two semesters or more (one-semester internships will be considered)
• Web design and/or website content management experience a plus
• Interns are eligible to receive course credit.
• Graphic design experience a plus
