Communications & Public Relations Intern

The Communications & Public Involvement Office of the City of Fort Collins is looking for a talented writer and researcher with demonstrated experience to assist with a variety of projects.

Projects may include:

  • General writing assignments for print and digital media, including press releases, feature articles, web content and advertising copy
  • Assisting with internal communication projects
  • Research for public relations and marketing campaigns
  • Event planning
  • Other work may be available in photography, graphic design, video production or on-camera work, depending on applicant’s skill level.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or a related field
  • Excellent writing skills, for print, web and social media platforms
  • Strong research and interview abilities
  • Photography, graphic design, and/or video experience preferred (not required)
  • Passionate about Fort Collins and interested in community issues

The City of Fort Collins provides a wide variety of services for the 140,000 citizens of Fort Collins, including: police services, utilities services, recreational programs, transportation services, cultural offerings, and much more.

The Communications and Public Involvement Office provides information to residents and the media on City government and services. The office publishes the City’s utility bill insert City News; produces content for the City’s web site, fcgov.com, employee intranet, and the City’s social media presence; organizes special events; provides graphic design services for the City organization; and produces programming for Cable14, the City’s government access television channel on Comcast Cable channel 14. The office also helps coordinate special projects for other City Council, the management team, and other departments, and provides internal communication for City employees.
