Communications Internship – Department of Philosophy

The CSU Department of Philosophy, well respected among peers worldwide and known for its strengths in ethics and world philosophies and religions, seeks a student intern to coordinate communications within the University community and with external constituencies. The Department of Philosophy Communications Intern will work closely with the Department Chair and office staff and the Assistant to the Dean for External Relations in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA).

The Communications Intern can expect to work approximately 10 hours per week to:
• Manage Department of Philosophy social media accounts
• Write and edit press releases and social media features
• Interview Department of Philosophy faculty, staff, and students to develop content for press releases and social media features
• Learn to share stories in new and different ways through video, photo, and infographics
• Develop creative design skills
• Complete individualized projects directly related to the intern’s area of study and professional interests
• Attend CSU Division of External Relations meetings and roundtables
• Provide support for Department of Philosophy events
• Support staff in the Department of Philosophy Office by covering the front desk and answering phones as needed

Application:
Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time as an undergraduate or graduate student for the duration of the internship. As this is an unpaid position, the Department of Philosophy Communications Intern is expected to work with her/his home department to register for internship class credit. Writing samples may include a press release, blog entry, feature story, classroom assignment, or a creative writing piece. Position begins ASAP; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
