Communications Intern

Supports the Communications Services department through communication tasks and activities for internal and external stakeholders. Assists in the writing, editing, and coordination of news releases, and other information programs for the district, staff, and community. Reports to the Communications Director.
Researches, writes, edits, takes photos, and produces internal and external district publications, e-newsletters, web site, media, etc.
Edits and proofreads district publications for technical and grammatical accuracy and aesthetic appeal.
Publicizes and promotes school events, activities, performances, exhibitions, displays, dedications, and special programs through press releases, public service announcements, media advisories, and other available resources.
Writes and edits articles for monthly publications; takes and submits photographs as needed.
Tracks PSD coverage in local and state publications; maintains log of story content.
Assists with community engagement activities and public input meetings, as requested.
Excellent computer skills using application software including Microsoft Word. Experience with digital photography, web/internet, and presentation software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Evidence of ability to work as a team player.
Seeking intern for fall 2010 or winter/spring 2011; daytime hours are flexible, as are days of the week.
Valid Colorado Driver’s License and car to travel to and from schools and district office.
