Communications Intern

Position Overview:
The Communication Interns will work in direct support of the Assistant Director for Communications in the CSU Events and Constituent Engagement Office. Interns will advance the messaging and branding of the CSU Events team through social media, the Web, print & electronic marketing pieces, and additional outlets.

• Work closely with the Assistant Director for Communications in development of event marketing and communications plans.
• Manage the department’s presence in various social media environments in support of programs and events. Ensure departmental adherence to University guidelines and develop best practices for office’s social media efforts.
• Draft content for the CSU Events & Constituent Engagement website. Coordinate with Web Communications and University Advancement staff to ensure departmental adherence to University Web guidelines.
• Assist in development and dissemination of event invitations.
• Serve as liaison to university’s External Relations department.
• Ensure departmental adherence to University branding and communications guidelines.
• Aid in implementation of post-experience surveys for department events and programs.
• Research best practices regarding event communications.
• Additional event-related duties.
• Other duties, as assigned.

• Current CSU student, available Spring and/or Summer 2011
• Willingness and ability to work with a team
• Strong work ethic and commitment to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
• Creativity
• Sense of humor
• Preferred work commitment of two semesters or more (one-semester internships will be considered)
• Web design and/or website content management experience a plus
• Graphic design experience a plus
