Job title: Communications Assistant
Department: Public Engagement & Special Projects
Location: 900 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80401
Position: Part-time; hourly
Salary Range: $16.00 to $17.50/hour
Objective:
The Communications Assistant will execute and assist in development of multiple forms of communication and event planning to support various department programs and engage the public.
Essential Functions:
• Understanding the audiences for programs/events assist in executing communication plan to inform and engage participants
• Participate in committee meetings; capture communication needs and develop a communication plan
• Maintain and build engagement on social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and Instagram)
• Schedule social media posts, create images and graphics, take video to support posts
• Ensure messaging aligns with strategic communications plan and multiple platforms
• Support communication activities including writing articles for Inside Jeffco and other publications, website content, presentations, and other materials as required or needed
Education and Experience:
• Completion of two years of coursework toward a bachelor degree in a related degree program (e.g. Communications, Public Administration, Social Work, English, etc.)
• Prior work experience requiring organizational skills and timeliness
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer skills including video editing
• Flexible, self-motivated and dependable person
