Communications Intern

Position Overview:
This paid internship position is responsible for project management that includes the marketing and communications for events, programs, and services provided by the Alumni Association. Projects to be worked on include: Best Teacher Awards, Distinguished Alumni nomination promotion, I Love CSU Day, and more. This position reports to the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with project management
o Meet with staff members to identify project needs and coordinate details.
o Update the project database.
o Manage timelines.
o Verify details are on the events calendar and website, when appropriate.
o Write copy for Director of Communications to approve.
o Work with staff members involved in e-mail and graphic design to produce required pieces.
• Work closely with the Director of Communications.
o Keep DOC updated on project status, timelines, and deliverables.
o Follow up with appropriate staff members to ensure deadlines are met.
• Follow the branding and writing style guidelines of the University.
• Exercise initiative, sound judgment, creativity and discretion in performing work assigned, anticipating and addressing concerns, responding to requests for information, and organizing and maintaining confidential files and records.
• Facilitate a positive experience for all constituents via phone, e-mail, mailings, and face-to-face communication.
• Occasionally staff the front desk, which includes greeting and assisting guests, answering the phone, and responding to inquiries.
• Other duties as assigned. This may include making web updates, writing stories, or other projects.

Qualifications
• Current CSU student
• Excellent writing and editing
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience with MS Office products
• Willingness to work occasional nights or weekends.

Time commitment
Minimum of 10 hours/week
Prefer commitment of two semesters
Occasional night and weekend hours
Interns are eligible for course credit
